Sciacca is a city rich in places of historical interest. In fact, among the city’s beauties you have the opportunity to visit museums steeped in tradition, history and culture.
Carnival Museum
A place where you can take a real journey through the history of this renowned festivity. The museum contains a collection of documents and miniature reproductions of the floats that took part in previous editions of the festival. There is also an image gallery, historical costumes and a section dedicated to local ceramics.
House Museum Francesco Scaglione
The House Museum Francesco Scaglione is a veritable museum of collecting in 19th-century style.
The museum is housed in the Scaglione family home itself, bequeathed to the municipality of Sciacca in 1969 by the daughters of Cavalier Francesco. The building is located in the historic centre, in Piazza Don Giovanni Minzoni, next to the cathedral.
It houses, preciously preserved, a remarkable artistic and antique heritage: paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, as well as archaeological, numismatic, mineralogical and ethno-anthropological material from all over Sicily, Italy and abroad.
Toy Museum
If you are nostalgic for the period of your childhood or simply love toys, the Toy Museum is for you.
Through the reconstruction of environments, they have managed to place toys in settings typical of the 1980s and 1990s.
Objects, furniture and toys combine to take us back in time. This succession of rooms and suggestions will arouse a unique emotion and take you back in time.
Soap House Museum
In the countryside, surrounded by olive groves, you can visit the Casa Museo del Sapone (Soap House Museum), an old rural building from the early 19th century that has been fully restored and still houses a number of objects related to rural activities in the area.
The idea of creating this museum space, stems from the desire to transmit historical, technical and scientific information to those who visit it, to all those interested in discovering the wonderful world of soaps.
It is therefore a cultural project associated with the production of natural soaps and cosmetics, namely that of ‘Soaps & Soaps’ products.
Sea Museum
The Sea Museum known as Museo del Mare, currently located in the ‘Tommaso Fazello’ monumental complex, was set up recently to preserve the precious artefacts from the depths of our waters. Inside you can admire various amphorae and a splendid collection of bronze cannons bearing friezes belonging to the most noble French families.
Mudia
Sciacca is also part of Mudia (the Diocesan Museum of Agrigento), a museum of sacred art centred on the devotion of the Madonna del Soccorso.
The Mudia is proposed as a model for a museum network and for the valorisation of the diocese’s historical, artistic and cultural heritage, and is included as a driving element of the Ecclesial Cultural Park.
Inside Sciacca’s Mudia you can admire various sacred objects linked to the cult and Marian devotion specific to Sciacca, represented in some cases by coral ex-votos.
Nocito Coral Museum
Sciacca’s coral has fascinated men, poets and artists over the centuries.
Its history of myths, fortunes, tragedies and dreams is intertwined with the history of the Nocito family, jewellers and goldsmiths for four generations.
In the Nocito Coral Museum, in the heart of Sciacca’s historic centre, you can relive the history and legend of the town.
And coral, inevitably, is the absolute protagonist.
