Sciacca is an ancient seaside town and it’s famous for its coral, its colorful ceramics, its Carnival, which is the most famous in Sicily and for hosting the Sicily’s oldest thermal centre.
Definitely worth a visit the Cathedral, the Basilica Santa Maria Santissima del Soccorso in the Baroque style, the 16th-century “Castello dei Luna“, where you can admire a beautiful landscape of the city from above, the 1500s Catalan-Gothic-style Steripinto Palace, and the Enchanted Castle of Sciacca, which is located a few kilometers from the center. That’s a real unique place! Inside you can find odd works created by Filippo Bentivegna, known as “Filippo di li Testi,” one of the leading exponents of “art brut” or “outside art“. During your visit you will see more than 3 000 sculptures of heads carved from rocks and tree trunks, as well as weird paintings!
Among the other things, don’t miss the various colorful narrow streets, the artisan stores of ceramics and coral, and the colorful village right by the picturesque harbor, where you can find many fresh seafood restaurants and typical trattorias.
In Sciacca you will be welcomed by the community with the classic greeting : “Assabinidica” (a typical Sicilian greeting, meaning “God bless you”) and you can enjoy experiences managed directly by its citizens that will allow you to experience it more authentically!
You can choose different experiences, such as cooking a dessert like “frutta martorana” (almond paste) or tasting savoring Europe’s oldest wine (4 000 years old).

- Scala Zig Zag: hidden among the alleys of Quartiere dei Marinai
- Coda della Volpe: it’s the white cliff that runs down from “Viale delle terme” to the sea and it has a particular shape. Moreover, linked to it, there is a romantic legend.
- Scala Sedotta e Abbandonata: it is located in San Michele’s neighbourhood and there you can see a nice view of the town.
- San Leonardo Street Art: It’s the ancient arab neighbourhood, modernized by wonderful street art
- Il Cuore di Sciacca: “Lu Chianu” of Sciacca is a magnificent terrace , overlooked the port and Sciacca’s sea.
- Porta di Mare: It’s one of the five gates in the city walls of the ancient center of Sciacca.
- Cortile Carini: also called Mondo di Lulo, artist who decorated part of the Courtyard with stones, colored glasses and pieces of ceramics, becoming in a few years one of the most special places to visit in Sciacca.
- Belvedere dei Tramonti:viewpoint over the harbor that is the ideal spot for super romantic selfies.
- Scala Lega Navale: Sciacca is the city of ceramics and you can find one of the most beautiful example in the scale of the former “Lega Navale”, located in piazza Consiglio alla Marina.
